Honest. Stubbornly hopeful. Awake to both the beauty and the pain of the world. Her books are relatable and feel like someone sat down and wrote you a letter. Her prayers are rooted in Christ and awake to the real world.
Before she was an author, she spent years as a newspaper reporter, a national magazine writer, and a podcast producer. She’s a professional listener, and that shows in her writing.

It's a year of breath prayers wrapped in a stunning daily revotional. You’ll find a short, meaningful breath prayer for every single day of the year. You’ll also discover daily reflections and embodied prayer practices.
Sprinkled throughout “Our Daily Breath Devotional” are poetry, guided prompts, findings from doctors and mental health experts, contemplative prayer practices, and embodied ways to love your neighbor.
It's not surface-level, but it also doesn't ask you to do more than you have on any given day.
Kayla wrote “Our Daily Breath” for the person who wakes up and realizes they’re holding their breath before they even look at their phone. For the one whose prayers have gone quiet. For exhausted parents, caregivers, grievers, doubters, people who keep showing up to the world and are worn through to the bone. She wrote it because she needed it herself.
Our Daily Breath publishes October 6, 2026 from Tyndale House.

With tender curiosity and contemplative wisdom, EverySeason Sacred is a weekly invitation to grow spiritually alongside our children.
Blending thoughtful musings and practical resources, Kayla meets parents in their actual lives, offering:
honest and hopeful reflections for every season of the parenting journey;
encouragement to parent with intention and imagination, presence and purpose; and
open-ended discussion prompts and prayers to explore and practice as a family.

Prayers for parents to pray over their children. It covers everything from ordinary days to the really awful ones.
Readers tell Kayla they keep “To Light Their Way” on their nightstand. That they've texted prayers from its pages to other parents in crisis. That it’s their go-to gift for baby showers and baptisms. That they read from it when they're scared and don't have words of their own.
That's exactly what the collection of prayers is for—to give you something to hold when you've got nothing else left to give.

Yes! Each day's breath prayer and devotion is short enough to open or close any kind of gathering. The embodied practices and guided prompts translate naturally to retreat settings. And because the book moves through a full year, a small group could read it together through any season — Advent, Lent, or just the ordinary stretch of months in between.
Kayla has heard from pastors, women's ministry directors, spiritual directors, and retreat leaders who anchor their gatherings around her breath prayers. For bulk orders or ministry inquiries, reach out through the contact page.

That they're less alone. And that God is actually present in the life they're living—not the tidier version they wish they had.
She wants the person who's lost the words for prayer to find them again. She wants the exhausted parent to feel seen rather than instructed. She wants the person who loves the world and is worn down by it to find something in her pages that holds them without asking them to pretend the hard things aren't hard.

Yes—and she loves it! Kayla speaks at retreats, conferences, and gatherings on contemplative prayer and breath practice, soul care for parents and caregivers, stubborn hope in hard times, navigating spiritual seasons, raising children of faith, and finding peace when the world is loud. She's available for both in-person and virtual events.
Her work has been featured in Christianity Today and by Hallmark's DaySpring. She's also a spiritual director in training at Columbia Theological Seminary and sees directees individually. Speaking, media, and spiritual direction inquiries can all be submitted via her contact page.

Right now, all of her energy is focused on “Our Daily Breath Devotional.” It publishes October 6, 2026 from Tyndale House. Getting the daily breath prayers into the hands of those who need them is her sole focus.
She's also finishing her training in Christian spiritual direction and formation at Columbia Theological Seminary, writing her Substack newsletter, and, as she'd be the first to tell you, attempting to find slivers of silence in a house with four kids and two dogs. A girl can dream.
