A Note From Kayla

Welcome! I'm grateful you're here. I'm a modern liturgist, a mother of four, and the author of the upcoming book Every Season Sacred: Reflections, Prayers, and Invitations to Nourish Your Soul and Nurture Your Family throughout the Year and To Light Their Way: A Collection of Prayers and Liturgies for Parents. I also host the weekly Liturgies for Parents podcast.
You can learn more about me here. I write about parenting and Christian spirituality. My work is inspired by my life as a full-time journalist turned work-at-home mom to wonderfully curious kids. My work has appeared in Alabaster Co., The Upper Room, (in)Courage, BHG.com, PBS KIDS for Parents, Motherly, Red Letter Christians, Christ + Pop Culture, and in countless newspapers across the United States.
I'm a co-founder of Upside Down Podcast, an ecumenical gathering of Christian women exploring faith and culture. We've had half a million downloads and are going on hiatus after our sixth season.
I share frequent reflections on my personal Instagram and prayers and liturgies at Liturgies for Parents. You can also find updates and insights through my newsletter. If you'd like to connect or collaborate in any way, please contact me and I'll touch base with you soon.
Gratefully,
Kayla

My FamilyI'm an accidental pastor's wife and we live in Waterloo, Iowa, in a 110-year-old former convent where we hope to love God and neighbor.
Joseph joined our family in 2011 via international adoption from Nigeria. Asher entered the world the old-fashioned way in 2013. Eliza arrived in 2015 via domestic adoption and I gave birth to Abram soon after in 2016. (Yep, that's four kids in five years!) We also have two dogs: Olive and Max. |
